Winery Colle Nivera

“Azienda Agricola Tuppitta” is a farming business focussed on vineyards and olive gardens and covers an area of 13 hectares.

The  activities have originally started in 2003 thanks to the vast farming experience gathered by its owner while working in the family business.
In 2007, within a process of business reorganization, the company was acquired by another company, Azienda Colle Nivera, a new up and coming business venture that was nonetheless able to follow its founder footsteps.
The philosophy behind the work at the Cantina, demands meticulous choice of the breeding techniques and the high density of installation, directly tied to a low level of production of grapes per single plant, which is one the company’s most important goal.
The main target is producing without compromising on quality, offering a final product with organoleptic features, which resonate perfectly with the evolution of taste in those who believe wine not only as a pleasure to behold but as a lifestyle to abide to.

The Winery is in close proximity of the vineyard, with a modern and functional design.
We boast state of the art technology in the winemaking field, which allows full control of the musts fermentation temperature and conservation of the new wines, all serving the purpose of getting the highest outcome from every stage of the vinification process. In order to refine the wine, steel tanks are in used, mainly for white wines and for a small part of red. They range from 700 hundreds litres to 225 for long-lived red wines as the process continues in the bottle.

Our vineyards are located in an area called Tuppita, in the countryside of Lula, a small village in the Province of Nuoro (Sardinia). They are situate at 200-300 meters above sea level. The soil is largely granitic, tending to be sundy. The landscape at the bottom of “Montalbo” is covered by the typical Mediterranean scrubland. The climate tends to be rather warm, windy and dry, with rainfalls concentrated during the autumn and at the end of the winter. These weather and environmental conditions, with temperature variations between the day and the night in summer, make possible to obtain a significant amount of grapes, limited irrigations, and above all limited use of fertilizers and pesticides.

The overall area is of 12 hectares divided in two vineyards. The first is of a considerable size of 10 hectares, while the second is of only 2 hectares. For both of them is in use a technical installation sufficiently high for 5400 strains per hectares, with the goal of limiting the production of grapes per plant.
